Personal Thursday #5

I feel like it's been ages since I drew something just for myself. And it was such a nice feeling to do so finally! No deadlines, no specific expectations - just drawing cats :3

This is a kitty lady lost in the woods. And she's been lost for a quite long time! But no worries - she can handle anything.

Maybe I could write an accompanying story?

Swamp - Illustration Friday + DS II 48

You can see some progress photos of making this picture on my Facebook page.

I have this feeling that I'm reaching my limits with hair pictures. Well, I've made at least 20 of them + countless sketches - I give myself a permission to feel I have used the theme to the full.

Wonder what will come now ;)

Tarot

I don't know if there's a holiday like this somewhere else, so you may not know that the day of 30th of October is the day of fortune-telling in Poland.

There are many many different ways of telling what will be one's future - some are used all over the world (like pouring liquid wax through a key hole and finding meaning of the given shape by seeing its shadow) and some are, maybe, used only in Poland. I haven't looked closely to it so I cannot tell you :)

Back to the point. Because of this holiday we had a special guest in our coffee shop. He stayed with us for few hours and used his tarot cards to answer people's questions.

I've decided to give it a try before any other customer got interested. I do believe in fortune-telling as I cast runes from time to time and they have never guided me wrong.

I've asked if my illustrations will conquer the world.

First, I had to draw a card that describes me and where I actually am.

I'm the fool ;P And I'm beginning my journey. It's a beginning of a beginning so not even a single step had been taken.

Then came three cards describing (probably) past, present and future. Although the tarotist said something like "Let's see what your fate thinks about it..". I don't know much about different tarot layouts so I'm not sure. Maybe you know?

I'm not sure if I remembered the last 2 cards right. I'm sure that the 2nd one got wands and that there were 5 or 6 of them and only the one with 5 fits what was described. About the 3rd - picture on a card was presenting a man like Odysseus - on a boat with his eyes covered, tied to some ship's part, with few mermaids in water in the background. I have not read what was the card's name so it was really hard to find it. And I have totally not seen any swords there. Or cups or anything else of this sort. But the person with covered eyes looks just like it. Hope I got it right :)

And this is the answer:
I have to go out to the world with what I make. What is happening now is just the beginning, and it's even hard to tell where this journey will lead me.

After all this fortune-telling I was asked to draw another card to check if I understood what I've been told, and this is it:

I'm still alone in my journey but there's a bit of light ^^

Hope everything will go well. I really do.

Legs over head

I'm wondering how it would look if people were sleeping curled like that with legs just next to head :P Someone should totally draw it!

My blog felt lonely with so many posts without my cat :3

Not dead and artsy

I have a lot of photos to share with you :) So here we go:

It may look sweet but in reality this smelly dog of ours slept in my parents untidy bed again and the cat was trying to punch her ;P The cat was running to fast for me to take a good photo so only the one where she was getting ready looks sharp enough. On the other way my dog is deadly afraid of all sorts of cameras - maybe she thinks her soul will be stolen when I take a picture of her. Who knows :)

Some time ago I was commissioned to paint a portrait of a cat. It's already finished but I can't show it before Christmas as it's a surprise Christmas gift. But it looks great :)

I am crafty lately because I found something that really caught my attention - beaded embroidery. I've already made 3 cell phone cases with beads; one sold, one a Christmas gift. I have few more on the way - the one with a yellow flower will be for sale.

My cat likes to accompany me when I work (she actually sleeps on my knees right now too). To be true: I prefer when she sleeps while I work since she can make a great mess when she's awake. Lately she has run through my oil paints palette 3 times, each of the time ending in a struggle of washing her paws with a soap under the tap.

Sweet kitty as a conclusion of my live lately. Marie Antoinette usually sleeps in weird poses. It's so cute :)

Hiding place

How would the tallest tree on Earth look? Would it be rather slim or wide with a lot of branches? What if it will grow and grow until it'll bigger than a planet it's on?

However it would look, it would be a perfect tree to build a tree house on :)

Evil Force!

Oh Noes! Something evil and alien has invaded my desk!

And it has no face!

And it is flat!

And it doesn't allow me to take my pencils!

How can I possibly work with an evil thing like this on my cosy desk?! >o<

Three goodies

Only good news today! :D

Another Creature came to me on Monday. It didn't tell me what it's name was but it said that it wants to go to my friend, Monster Princess, and stay with her. So on the next day I took the Creature to my school and when my friend came it at once said it's name, Elmo, and that it's a boy.

This is him, Elmo boy :)

*blushes*

He is a shy Creature. At least that's what Monster Princess says. They look good together, though.

------

More good news: as I've decided some time ago - I will not make any more still-lives at school. It's been already two classes when I drew what I wanted and what surely is not a still-life and has nothing of apples, ribbons and white cloths in itself.

The idea of a High-Five Enthusiast struck me some time ago, when I was drawing something for a contest (if I remember it right). Firstly, he was supposed to be a bit 3D with his arms reaching out from a paper on which he would be drawn. It would be a good contest work - a bit different from any other. But he ended up as my inspiration on drawing classes and he looks just as I've imagined him.

When I was drawing a High-Five Enthusiast she came to me - a Lady with a white mask and an embroidered dress. Week later I drew her, it was still so clear in my mind, I remembered how everything looked. Those two works are not very 'MINE', I'm not used to do surreal drawings but well, when they come, I can not possibly resist. I even should not try to *nods*

I already know who wants to be drawn on the next classes - he has big and tangled antlers, a deer-like head and there is a shining glass sphere in front of him. Can't wait to make him alive on my drawing!

-----

And now it's time for the biggest announcement: I've finished my portrait! :D My mum says it looks like me so I think the basic condition of a self-portrait was met. I am ready to work on it a bit in the future, only if I'll be enormously bored and have absolutely nothing else to do, but as for now I'm very very happy with the result ^^ My grandma will be pleased too, I'm sure! (It was made for my grandparents)

Mysterious creatures from a nearby bush

Today, when I came out for a little walk, I saw something shiny glittering in a bush next to my block of flats. I came closer and I couldn't believe my eyes - three colourful unknown (I'm sure of that!) species were napping on the branches so unaware of their uniqueness. I took a camera out of my pocket ( it's good to have a camera always somewhere near, oh yes it is!) and took few photos.

Unfortunately, they woke up just then and flew away (or fell down, it depends...). I wanted to see them once again so I searched everywhere they could fly/go. Few minutes later I noticed something bright blue on the grass and I was sure it's one of them. And I was right! I found them again and took few more photos :)

While taking those photos I tried to introduce myself and, also, I explained those little creatures that they are very unique and they should find a nice shelter to hide in if they want to survive. I explained that there are many weird people around there and surely one of them would like to see all three creatures lying dead in a glass box.
Just then those little species got a bit anxious and they asked politely if there is a possibility I could hide them somewhere. I didn't have any idea where should this hiding place be but then they announced that if I'm such a nice person then my own home must be as nice too. I thought it will the best to agree and then they introduced themselves.

From the left: Franciszek, Honorata, Skarabeusz Jeżyna.

So we went home.

No sooner that Franciszek went into my home, he found a new best friend - my sister Zuu. Now they are inseparable. However, Skarabeusz and Honorata stayed with me and they look very happy together ^^

They also said that there are three more creatures to come to me. So I will take a lot of photos and upload them here as soon as they show up. Stay tuned then!
