A new character I've created - a bird girl (no name for her yet, sorry!). You have already seen her in my 23rd daily sketch, that was the first time I drew her.

Daily Sketch III - Day #31-40
A month of daily sketches! Yay! Now on to the next one :)
Here are next 10 sketches I did + a bit of description if needed (beware, this post is picture heavy!).
I started with splash art (I've described the process in my previous post) and more cat character and his companion. Here you can see all of the before and after splash daily sketches. Colour schemes were randomly chosen via ColorSchemeDesigner.
Here, on the 6th of January, I joined Sketchbook Challenge 2014 - Victoria Ying's and Mike Yamada's idea of pushing one's art further by massive daily sketching. The idea is to fill up a whole sketchbook (A5, 200 pages) in one month. And since I was already sketching everyday I've decided to join :) Why not. It's a win-win challenge, because even if you won't finish your sketchbook, you still make plenty of drawings.
For now on my daily sketches will come from my Moleskine sketchbook but I think I can still pull off some splash art there :) We'll see.
As previously, I post all my daily sketches + more on my Instagram, twitter and tumblr so don't forget to check up those to see and read more :)
Because of the massive amount of sketches I'm making lately, due to the Sketchbook Challenge 2014, I have decided to share some, or most, or all, with you, here :) They will be posted under "from my sketchbook" tag.
See you next time!

Reflect - Illustration Friday
That was quite a big coincidence with this week's Illustration Friday's topic.
I paint my Daily Sketches each morning and since for some time I've been painting in a splash method* I don't really have much influence in what I will paint. And my Friday's, 27th Daily Sketch's, splashes reminded me of a lake :) So here it is - a peaceful reflection.
I will post next bunch of sketches (#21-30) tomorrow so you can see the rest of the splash art. Also, I think I will add photos of how the splashes looked before I got down to them :) It's quite interesting - everyone or anyone can see something entirely different in them.
If you can't wait for those photos you can check my Instagram, where I show them daily.

* I splash some paint on paper and when it dries I try to find some sense in those strokes, dots and marks.

Pattern - Illustration Friday
I woke up today to a view of overwhelming whiteness outside. It was snowing only a bit yesterday so I guess that the night must have been pretty busy for the Snow Queen ;)
Anyway, this squirrel has been prepared for a situation like this for a long time. Warm hat and cute mittens hand sewn by his grandma just couldn't wait to be worn!
This little fellow is also my day #7 of the Daily Sketch III marathon. I will post the sketches/illustrations every 10 days so I hope to see you back in here in 3 days' time :)

Underwater - Illustration Friday
Yesterday I received a fabulous package - even 2 packages! Both were presents I have bought for myself to celebrate finishing book illustrations and to celebrate a new career start. First was a brand new set of French watercolours + fancy watercolour paper (oh I love those); second was a brand new Wacom tablet. I've been using my sister's Wacom Bamboo for some time now and I thought it was high time to have my own professional piece of equipment. So I bought new Wacom Intuos Pro :) And it's great. I'm getting used to all those smarty-pants keys and thinking of the best way to place it on my desktop.
And creating! :)

Water - Illustration Friday
Purr is fishing for her breakfast.
I've made few sketches that would be a pretty cute picture story about going fishing. Maybe I will draw them all when I have the time ^^
I will put the original drawing for sale in my Etsy shop later :)

Tall - Illustration Friday
Purr is quite excited :) It's well past her birthday but with a new friend, Milla, they just party hard all the time!
This illustration is a Purr's birthday giveaway gift - custom made for Milla the cat :) The rest of the gifts you can see on Purr's (and Teddy Cat's and Bobek's) blog - The Meow Blog.

From my sketchbook #9
It's hard to scan from this spiralled notebook, so photos will have to do ;)
That's all for now. My new sketchbook really gets me going with all my ideas. I just want to draw all the time.

Snot the mini cat :) Comic about her is on the way and will appear soon on The Meow Blog
You will see more of those tea cup animals soon :D Oh yes, you will! And maybe some dachshunds too!
Custom gift on the way. I think it will be a bookmark. The cat on the top is my Purr :)
Sketches for this illustration. Of course I didn't do any colour sketches and really hated myself for that later on...
In the past I was drawing fashion illustrations quite often. Now I make them only on rare occasions, don't really know why.
I've written a short story about a bouncing bunny - to commemorate my topic being chosen by Illustration Friday as a weekly topic ('bounce'). The text is ready, now I only need to work a bit on the thumb illustrations. And then you'll see a mini dummy book, I suppose :)
That's all for now. My new sketchbook really gets me going with all my ideas. I just want to draw all the time.

Teacher - Illustration Friday
Not all teachers are cool. Some are like shadows from medieval times.
Short anecdote: When Harry Potter first arrived in Poland and there was that big BOOM over this book, some teachers decided to do something about it. In my sister's school (elementary) the headmaster announced that Harry Potter books are evil and all pupils caught reading the books during breaks will be punished. Wicked :) Of course it didn't stop anyone from reading - it even made a big storm between parents and the headmaster and brought new readers who wanted to see where this evil in the book actually is.
Wonder if that headmaster even read the book in the first place...
There is a bit of story written on this illustration. It's about a rabbit princess trying to find a Royal Carrot ;)
I've made this illustration in a different way than I usually do. It stressed me a bit - for most of the time the picture looked rather wrong :P But I guess I've managed to get it right in the end. What do you think?

Super Cat sneakers
Freeze! It's the Super Cat!
Some time ago I bought a pair of cheap white sneakers with a purpose of painting them. And the time has come to do so!
(Especially because my old sneakers are falling apart)
When I first thought of it, while being in a shoe shop, I was quite sure they will be blue and will have clouds on. Today I decided that it would be interesting to go with the flow and not plan what else will appear on them.
So I've set everything up, prepared my paints (acrylics) and brushes, started playing Star Wars II on my computer and... BAM!... a Super Cat appeared from nowhere! :D Well, he's a super cat - they tend to appear from nowhere ;)
Here are some progress photos:
Oh, how I love those shoes! I will surely make more, it's so much fun. And there are never enough of super-cat-and-stars shoes!
Finally, I've shown the shoes to one of the cats, and it seems he approves. Thankfully! :D
I think I can treat this shoe painting as one of my Challenge's topic - limited palette. I've used only white, black and light blue acrylic.
How do you like them? :) Maybe you've got some propositions for next shoes?

Giveaway + Lonely - Illustration Friday
To celebrate my cat's 2nd birthday I've made 3 super cute illustration to give away to anyone who wants them :) You can read more about the giveaway here, on my cats' blog.
Here are the illustrations you can win:
Aren't they adorable? :3 S CLICK and get them for free!
BTW, it's my birthday giveaway too! ;)
I've heard that bunnies are from the moon. But it can be a very deserted place if one of them accidentally lives alone. A bit like 'The Little Prince', but they have no rose or even a carrot there.

Lost - Illustration Friday
I've started this cat so long ago... But it somehow suited this week's theme so I've decided to spend some more time on it.
Next time I'll try to do something without cats... Now all my cat-power should go to a new blog - The Meow Blog ;)

Space - Illustration Friday
My very private space.
I'm in love in spending time outside, sitting among trees and lying on blankets on a green grass. I could do it every day :3 It's a pure relaxation to me.
This picture is my first illustration for The Challenge - pyramidal composition. It wasn't that hard. Now I'll pick one from the Palettes' part.
You can also find this illustration in the Sweet Sketch Blog :)

Shiny - Illustration Friday
My cats always find a shiny new place to sleep - as soon as I change something in my room they come for an inspection and if they approve, they sleep in the spot :P Silly cats ;)
It's also my illustration for the 4th prompt in The Sweet Sketch Blog :3 Wonder what will be the next topic.
